PJC District Board of Trustees
The Pensacola Junior College Board of Trustees consists of nine members
serving four-year terms who are appointed by the Governor of the State of
Florida to oversee the operations of the college. The Board of
Trustees meets monthly.
Board Meeting Schedule
- The Board meets the first Tuesday after the third Monday of each month.
- Unless otherwise noted, the Board meets in Building 7, Room 736, at 5:30
PM.

Board Members
Dona
Usry is a homemaker and community volunteer. She presently serves on the
Boards of the Salvation Army, WSRE Foundation, and Panhandle Tiger Bay, and
is a member of the Guilds of the PJC Foundation, Symphony, Museum of Art,
and Pensacola Little Theatre. Usry has been the recipient of the Hollinger
Award for volunteerism from Baptist Heath Care Foundation, the Murial
Shugart Award for volunteerism from the Arts Council of Northwest Florida,
and the Sandra Robinson Service Above Self Award for a non-Rotarian given by
the Downtown Rotary Club of Pensacola. She was appointed to the PJC Board in
1999 and served as chair from August 2005 to July 2007. |

Vincent R. Andry,
Board Chair, is the District Supervisor of Customer Services for Gulf Power.
He joined the Board in 2003. His community service includes ARC Gateway,
Santa Rosa Medical Center Board, Santa Rosa County Planning Board, Pace
Rotary, LEAP 2003, Better Business Bureau and United Way. Andry is recipient
of the American Red Cross Central Exceptional Volunteer Award, the J.O.
Blackburn Volunteer Award, and Arbitrator of the Year Award. |

Carol
Carlan, CEO, Carlan Consulting, LLC advocate for women’s financial
education and success, is known for her extensive involvement and commitment
to education, business, economic and social issues within the local
community and throughout the state. As the first female president of a large
regional bank in the panhandle, surviving numerous mergers during her 31
years in banking, she took early retirement as the West Panhandle President for Wachovia.
Ms. Carlan has served on the Board of Trustees since 1999 and served as
chair in 2002 and 2003. She was appointed by Governor Bush, and reappointed
by Governor Crist. Other community involvement includes: Inaugural chair of
Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, appointed by Governor
Bush, Board member and Audit chair Sacred Heart Health Systems, Board Member
Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Impact 100, Take Stock in Children, Auburn
University Philanthropy Board, Founding Member (past chair) of PACE Center
for Girls (Escambia/Santa Rosa); past chair Statewide Board of Trustees for
PACE Center of Girls, Autism Society Board, appointed by Governor Charlie
Crist to the Department of Juvenile Justice Blueprint Commission 2007.
She was honored as Woman Business Leader of the Year by Pensacola Business
Journal and Business Leader of the Year by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce
PACE Awards. |

Monsignor
Luke Hunt was born and raised in Crablane, Tullow, Ireland. He is
presently serving as Pastor of St. Ann Parish in Gulf Breeze. He
currently serves on the diocesan Building Commission, Finance Commission and
other various diocesan assignments. In addition he is also presently
serving as Vicar General of the Diocese. Msgr. Hunt is active in
several local community organizations, including the Chaplains Association,
the Interfaith Council and serves on the board of Directors of Gulf Breeze
Hospital and Andrews Institute. He was appointed to the Board in June
2007. |

| Edward Moore is an attorney and mediator
with the Pensacola law firm of Moore, Hill & Westmoreland, P.A. He is a 1960
honors graduate of Pensacola Junior College and received his B.A. (1962) and
J.D. (1964) degrees from the University of Florida, where he was a member of
Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Florida Blue Key, and was selected for the
University of Florida’s Hall of Fame. He served three years as a Marine
Corps officer. He is a past president of Pensacola Junior College
Foundation, Pensacola Junior College Alumni Association, Pensacola YMCA, the
Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, and former member of the Board of
Governors of the Florida Bar. He has been involved in various other legal
and civic organizations. He is the recipient of an Outstanding Alumni Award
from Pensacola Junior College and recipient of the first Professionalism
Award from the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association. He was appointed
to the Board in October 2007. |

| Marjorie T. “Margie” Moore is a Vice President, Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch in Pensacola, Florida. Margie has been in the Financial Services Industry and with Merrill Lynch since 1983. She is a cum laude graduate with a Business Degree from the University of Georgia. She is active in the community by serving on the Executive Board of Baptist Health Care and the board of directors for Manna Food Pantry. She is past president of the Pensacola Junior College Foundation and a Board of Governors Emeritus. She also served on the Council on Aging of West Florida Board from 2002-2006 and the Favor House of Northwest Florida Board from 1997-2007. Margie received the Merrill Lynch Lifetime Community Achievement Award and recently was the recipient of the “David Brady Award”, a Merrill Lynch award recognizing her commitment to clients. |

Celeste Norris is the vice president for human resources at Baptist Health Care of Pensacola. She is credited with driving the complex process that resulted in Baptist Health Care’s four consecutive appearances on FORTUNE magazine’s annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. She served on the steering committee that helped the organization attain the 2003 Malcolm
Baldrige National Quality Award and held leadership positions on teams involving patient satisfaction, employee loyalty and the revenue cycle. She serves on the faculty of the Baptist Health Care Leadership Institute and is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences. A graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Norris holds a degree in business education
and credentials as senior professional in human resources serves on the Health Sciences Advisory Board at the University of West Florida and on the board of trustees at Pensacola Junior College. She was appointed to the Board in 2006. |

John L. O’Connor, Board Vice-chair, is President of JLO Inc. and the O’Connor Management
Group, which operates seven McDonalds’ franchises in Escambia County,
Florida. He started with McDonalds in 1966 while in high school. He is a
1972 graduate of Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois.
John has served on the Board of Directors for
Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida, college of Business Advisor Counsel
of UWF, Five Flags Rotary and the Conquistadors. He has served on the
Executive Committee for the Blue Angel Classic for the past seven years. He
has served on the Board of Governors for the PJC Foundation and the Fiesta
of Five Flags.
John has been a long-time supporter of the Ronald McDonald House having helped form the House in Iowa City, Iowa. He has served on the Ronald House Board in Pensacola since July of 2004. He was appointed to the Board in 2005. |

Deidre Young has been a domestic engineer for the past 18 years. She has managed and operated her home and family with great joy and pleasure. Prior to the birth of her two sons, she was a middle school classroom teacher in Pinellas County. Deidre is a community volunteer with an emphasis on educational issues.
Deidre has served as a board member for the PACE Center for Girls, Success by Six, the Escambia County School Readiness Coalition and the Chief Judge’s Children’s Council. Her passion for children and education has led her to serve on a number of educational boards including the Escambia County Council of PTA/PTSA and local school-based PTA/PTSA. She held officer level positions including president on her local PTA/PTSA Executive Board. She has also served on a number of school advisory councils as chairman and other officer positions. Deidre served as a member of the University of West Florida Presidential Search Advisory Committee. In addition, she has served as a member of the Junior League of Pensacola, most recently serving as the Sustained Community Liaison member. She was appointed to the Board in 2002. |
