2008 President's Message

Pensacola Junior College was Florida’s first public two-year college opening its doors to students on September 13, 1948.

To mark the college’s six exemplary decades, and in celebrating our 60th birthday, a number of events and activities are planned throughout the academic year.  This Web site will list these events and activities during the year to invite the public to participate with the college in celebrating the birthday of an institution nationally recognized for quality and excellence.

This year, PJC is recognized as one of the Top One Hundred Producers in associate degrees in the nation.  Four of our health sciences students participated at the national level in the Health Occupations Students of America competitions and placed in twelve award categories.  Our baseball team reached the number one national ranking during this past academic year, and each year our athletic teams produce players named to the FCCAA Academic All State Team.

PJC’s long-standing heritage of rising to the challenge to help meet the needs of the citizens of Northwest Florida is well known through programs that serve businesses and industries and community outreach initiatives.  Of utmost importance to our faculty and staff is the success and satisfaction of our students with their experience and goal attainment while attending PJC.

Please join us this year and participate in celebrating 60 years of exemplary service to our students and the citizens of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.  I invite you to take advantage of the many programs of study and services we offer on the Pensacola, Milton, and Warrington campuses, and our Downtown Center, as well as online learning.

Ed Meadows, President
Pensacola Junior College
