FAQs

What does "Self-Identification" mean? Do I have to fill out that section on my class registration form?

Students who are disabled are encouraged to complete a voluntary "Self-Identification" section of their class registration form after being admitted to the college. This enables the DSS to identify and provide students with auxiliary aid assistance and/or support services.

What do I do if I am disabled (or think I might be)?

Contact DSS at 484-1637 (Voice/TDD/TTY) and schedule an appointment to determine if you are eligible for services and accommodations. If you do not have documentation of a disability, please indicate that when you schedule the appointment.

I already have papers saying that I am disabled. Is that all I need?

If you already have medical, psychological, or educational documentation of a disability, please bring that information with you to the appointment. This information will be maintained in strict confidentiality within the DSS office. DSS must have your written consent to verify the disability and make recommendations for reasonable accommodations.
