Camp Fire Philosophy

We believe...

...That each child has the right to learn through exploratory and imaginative experiences, explore the arts and participation in an ethnically diverse and culturally rich environment.  We feel that children excel when their experiences take place in a supportive and nurturing environment which challenges them but also allows them to grow and develop at their own pace in their own unique way.

...That parents and family are a child's first teacher and an integral part of their early development.  Our goal is to support families and help them to be the best parents they can be through workshops and resource sharing.

...That play is the work of children.  The PJC Child Development Center provides a safe environment for children to make choices, and a welcoming atmosphere that challenges each child to ask the questions of childhood:  "What?"  "Why?"  "How?"  We also provide opportunities for children to answer those same questions through hands-on experiences and specifically designed learning centers.

...We offer social interactions, large and small motor activities, math science, sensory and social activities.
