Student Excellence Awards
Student Excellence Awards are presented during an annual ceremony which recognizes students who receive awards in the following areas:
- Departmental/Program Scholars.
- Selection by individual departments for students exhibiting outstanding performance in the classroom, as well as receiving high test scores on competitive departmental exams.
- Scholastic Achievement Award.
- Recipients must have maintained a GPA of 3.9 or higher while completing 80% of their degree requirement courses.
- Leadership Award.
- Selection based upon participation in service clubs.
- Service Award.
- Selection by faculty and department heads based upon outstanding services rendered in their respective department, schools, and campuses.
- Volunteer Service Award.
- Student completing the highest number of documented and verified volunteer service hours will be awarded the Volunteer Service Award. Recipient must meet the minimum 2.5 GPA requirement.
- Student Organization Volunteer Service Award
- Student organization completing the highest number of documented and verified volunteer service hours will be awarded the Volunteer Service Award. Club officers must meet the minimum 2.5 GPA requirement for eligibility.
- Sharlene E. Burkhardt Award.
- Sponsored by PJC Foundation.
- Selection by faculty and department heads based upon community service rendered by the student.
- One male and one female recipient chosen each year.
- All-USA Academic Team Award.
- Nominations submitted by community college presidents or campus
CEOs based upon:
- Outstanding GPA. (Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.)
- Participation in honors programs.
- Awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement and service to the college and community.
- Phi Theta Kappa advisors select two students from each PJC campus.
