Program Degree and Certificate Types

Associate in Arts Degree

The A.A. degree enables you to transfer to a university. After completing your first two years of general studies at PJC, you may transfer to a four-year institution and earn your Bachelor in Arts or Bachelor in Science degree. The A.A. degree is comprised of 36 general education credits plus a minimum of 24 additional credits chosen from PJC's college credit courses.

Associate in Science Degree

With an A.S. degree a student may choose to enter the workforce or transfer to a state university. Make sure the A.S. program you have selected is transferable to the state university program you plan to study.

Associate in Applied Science

This degree prepares a student to enter into employment requiring specialized skills such as Fire Science, Criminal Justice Technology, or Dental Hygiene. This degree should lead to a productive career; however, it does not transfer to a state university. If you decide to attend a university, you may be required to do additional work at the freshman or sophomore level.

Certificate Programs

PJC also offers certificate programs. A certificate is a program that usually lasts one year or less and relates to a specific employment area. Certificate programs are not considered college-degree programs.
