Carpentry

Welcome to Carpentry (CARP-VC)

This program contains significant on-the-job training working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in our area. Courses will follow curriculum developed by Florida Community College of Jacksonville’s Florida Construction Institute. The curriculum developed by FCCJ follows standards set by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), which was created to address the critical workforce shortage facing the construction industry and to develop industry driven standardized craft training programs with portable credentials. The total program is four semesters. Students are expected to receive approximately one to two hours of theory followed by four to five hours of putting into practice their newly learned building skills. Students should have a high school diploma or GED. However, potential students without a high school diploma or GED can enter the program and study for their GED at the same time. Adult Basic Education, soft skill development and career instruction will be available.
