History/Languages/Philosophy

 Welcome to the History/Languages/Philosophy Department

The History, Languages, and Philosophy Department offers a wide variety of classes designed to introduce students to the liberal arts. The goal of the department is to provide students with a well-rounded education before beginning the junior and senior years of college. Our history courses will give the student a choice of study that ranges from European and American studies to a more specific African-American historical and cultural study. The foreign languages offered through this department are unparalleled for a junior college in their variety (French, German, Spanish, and Latin). From Socrates to Sartre, from Buddhism to Judaism, our religion and philosophy courses will leave the student with greater critical thinking skills and a greater appreciation for the major thought processes of the world. The department is dedicated to giving students the kind of broad-based exposure to subjects that leave a person truly educated.
