Pensacola Civic Band Concerts

The Pensacola Civic Band performs at Pensacola Junior College as part of the Lyceum Series and at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Navarre.

Entitled “The Strength of Family,” the PJC concert is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium. The church concert is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

Under the direction of Don Snowden, the award-winning Civic Band opens with “Silverado,” from the movie of the same name.

The Civic Band’s second selection is “The Song of the Brother.” This composition by Eric Leidzén features the euphonium as a solo instrument. Civic Band member Tom Raber is the soloist for the evening.  Raber’s encore number is “Il Balen del Suo Sorriso,” Count di Luna's aria from “Il Trovatore.”

Other selections include “The American Road” by Jerry Brubaker and “A Symphony of Sitcoms” featuring television sitcom themes from “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “Mister Ed,” “Leave It to Beaver,” “Hogan’s Heroes” and many more.

Winners of the 2002 Sudler Silver Scroll Award for outstanding community band in America, the Civic Band has been a part of the cultural scene in Northwest Florida and Southwest Alabama since 1971. The Civic Band has been sponsored by Pensacola Junior College since its inception.

Reserved seats for the PJC concert are $5. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash or check are accepted. Purchase tickets at the Lyceum Box Office in the Ashmore.

Seats for the St. Sylvester Catholic Church concert are $5 and can be purchased at the door before the concert.
