Samuels on Simulation Technology Advisory Panel
10/1/2009

The Florida Center for Nursing has appointed Keith Samuels of Pensacola Junior College to serve on the Simulation Technology & Nursing in Florida Advisory Panel.

The FCN selected Samuels for his “expertise and position” as executive director of the Mary Ekdahl Smart Center for Patient Simulation Training & Research on the PJC Warrington campus.

The FCN estimates that by 2020 Florida’s shortfall of full-time registered nurses to be about 52,000. To address the increasing decline, a number of nursing programs are utilizing simulation technology. The FCN simulation advisory panel will steer the direction, collaboration and activities of the two-year project “Promoting the Use of Simulation Technology in Florida Nurse Education.”

The effort is being funded by a grant awarded to The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida – the philanthropic affiliate of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida – from the national initiative “Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future.”
