Classical Guitarist Lynn McGrath

Pensacola Junior College presents classical guitarist Lynn McGrath as part of the 2009-2010 Lyceum Series.

McGrath holds a free master class 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Sydney Kennedy Rehearsal Hall, Building 8, room 884, on the Pensacola campus.

The concert is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.

In addition to U.S. concerts, McGrath has performed in Italy, Montenegro and Peru. Combining interests in Spanish literature, storytelling and classical guitar, McGrath’s newest project is garnering international attention. She performs Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s “Platero y yo” as soloist and narrator. Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968) wrote “Platero y yo”  in 1960, setting to music 28 poems by Juan Ramón Jiménez, the Spanish poet who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1956.

Concert tickets are $10, reserved admission; $8, seniors, children, non-PJC students; $6, Senior Club members, PJC staff/faculty/retirees; free, PJC students. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash or check are accepted.
