Swerve Dance Co. Features Experimental Works

Pensacola Junior College features Swerve Dance Co. Oct. 2-3 as part of the 2009-2010 Lyceum Series.

The performance is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.

Under the artistic direction of Elizabeth Bradford and LaVonne French, Swerve brings dance to a broad, diverse community audience by producing new and experimental modern works, thus encouraging performers, choreographers and audiences to become involved with dance in the community. Through artistic collaborations, the company strives to broaden the horizons of the art of dance.

The performance premieres “Psalms,” choreography by Nannette Grimm, former artistic director of Ballet Pensacola. Also on the program: “L’eau de la Nuit,” choreography by company member Melody May Gill, set to music by Robert Sherwood; and “Song of the Sirens,” choreography by Bradford, with music and accompaniment by Jason Sisko.

Concert tickets are $10, reserved admission; $8, seniors, children, non-PJC students; $6, Senior Club members, PJC staff/faculty/retirees; free, PJC students. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash or check are accepted.
