The Pensacola Junior College student culinary team won a bronze medal at the American Culinary Federation Student Team Florida State Championship in Orlando Sept. 11.

PJC culinary team members are Lionel Lariviere, Chris Rivait, Matt Seaton, Polly Browder and Greg Rodriguez.

Sixteen teams competed including six teams from other countries. In addition to competing in a culinary skills segment, each team was required to produce and serve a four-course menu to three judges in 90 minutes.

“I am extremely proud of the work this team put into the competition this year and the demeanor and professional side they took in all aspects of the trip,” says PJC culinary instructor Chef Travis Herr.

The ACF is the nation’s premier organization for professional chefs and cooks.

Student Team Championship competitions are designed to raise the standards of culinary excellence and professionalism among students, promote camaraderie and educational opportunities and act as a staging area for research and development of culinary concepts.
