Business is booming for carpenters along the Gulf Coast. You can get a better job with better pay once you have PJC’s Carpentry Vocational Certificate. Completing this program can be your first step in turning an everyday job into a satisfying career. In less than a year, you could move from construction laborer to crew chief.
Check out the carpentry pay difference:
- without certificate -- $6.40/hr.
(minimum wage, little chance for increase) - with certificate -- $10 - $15/hr.
(starting wage, good chance for increase)
Choose Your Path
The carpentry program has four career paths. Depending on your level of experience, you may complete this program at the end of each path.
- Construction Carpentry Assistant
- Trim/Finish Carpenter
- Roof/Frame Carpenter
- Foundation Carpenter
On-the-Job Training
PJC’s Carpentry Vocational Certificate program is approved by Florida’s
Department of Education. Classes and on-the-job-training are held Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Habitat for Humanity,1060 North Guillemard Street in Pensacola.
Most days, you will spend about 1 hour in class and about 5 hours in
hands-on, supervised training. You will master real skills as you build real houses through a partnership
with Habitat for Humanity.
